Balfegó Tuna

Speed boats fot tuna growing farms

In April 2013 we have delivered three units ordered by the company Grup Balfegó dedicated to  fishing, putting on weight and commercialisation of the Mediterranean red tuna, to be used in the tuna transfer process from the net to the transport cages and also for works in the fish farm

The first two units have been built following  Capitanía Marítima`s procedures and they have 15 cm more of moulded depth than the third unit built with CE rated. The general arrangement from ahead to astern is: Waterproof fore peak containing the fuel tank, cockpit with waterproof chamber under the floor, being two spaces filled with expanded foam  assuring the buoyancy, engine space with a waterproof bulkhead and swinging covers to improve the access to the engine. Two cages in the transom conforming two waterproof spaces to give complementary buoyancy in case of flooding into the cockpit and into the engine space, in more this cages protecting the jets against hits. The bilge system, the electricity, radio, sailing lights, fenders etc. has been made by the own shipyard.

The boats are powered by means of an Yanmar engine adapted to a C-5 Castoldi jet. In sea trials, with the fuel tank full and two people on board, the boats have raised a maximum speed of 22 knots having an excellent capacity of manoeuvring, like it is possible to see in the following videos:
